Why We Intervene
We have witnessed how suddenly disasters can disrupt homes, livelihoods and access to basic necessities. During the Mumbai floods, Kerala floods, COVID-19 and floods across Maharashtra, we saw communities needing immediate support beyond the scope of our regular programmes. These experiences reinforced Karunya Trust's belief that our responsibility does not end with predefined projects. When communities face a crisis, there is a need to respond. KARE was therefore developed as a platform through which Karunya can stand with communities during emergencies and help them through relief and recovery.
