Why We Intervene
The Mumbai floods brought into sharp focus the vulnerability of families living in unsafe homes. Many tribal families lived in kutcha houses that were prone to leakages, extreme weather and animal attacks, leaving children and women particularly vulnerable. Karunya Trust began Nivas with the belief that a safe home is fundamental to dignity and security- a place where families can live safely, children can study and women and children can feel protected.
