Why We Intervene

We saw children and families struggling silently when faced with life-threatening illnesses. The impact went beyond the illness itself; children were dropping out of school, families were emotionally and financially affected, and stigma often prevented people from speaking openly about what they were going through. Karunya Trust began Savli to ensure that children and families facing such circumstances would not have to navigate them alone, and that a serious health condition would not mean giving up on a child's education, dignity, or future. Through daily home visits and weekly centre-based meetings, the programme stays closely connected with children and families, providing ongoing support and helping them access appropriate healthcare, education, government services and other available support. It also works with relevant government departments and other stakeholders to strengthen the support available to families.
