Why We Intervene
In many rural and tribal communities, the absence of toilets meant people continued to depend on open defecation. For women and girls, this was not only a sanitation concern but also a matter of privacy, safety and dignity. It also exposed communities to greater health risks. Karunya Trust began SWACH because access to safe sanitation is a basic requirement for a healthy and dignified life.
