Who We Are
Learn about our journey, mission, and the people behind Karunya Trust
Empowering communities since 1998
Karunya Trust, registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950 (Reg. No. E-18021), has been serving vulnerable communities in Thane and Mumbai in Maharashtra since 1998. Guided by our six core themes—Education, Health, Livelihood, Good Governance, Community Wellbeing, and Ecology—we continue to work for the upliftment of children, women, and families from rag-picking communities, tribal hamlets, and HIV-affected households.
Our interventions span non-formal education, nutrition, exposure visits, sports opportunities, scholarships, vocational and skill training, health camps, psychosocial support, organic farming promotion, seed grants for livelihoods, access to government schemes, empowering women, construction of homes and sanitation units, drinking water facilities, and rural school development. Through these integrated efforts, Karunya Trust strives to create sustainable and dignified opportunities for marginalized communities.

Our Vision
The guiding principle that drives everything we do
“A just and harmonious society rooted in the gospel values of love, freedom and peace.”
Our Core Themes
Six integrated pillars driving holistic community development
Education
Education is a core focus of Karunya Trust, fostering learning through non-formal and tuition centres, scholarships, and study tours. Its adult literacy programs further empower families towards self-reliance and lifelong learning.
Health
Promoting overall well-being through nutrition kits, health camps, medical aid, and awareness sessions. With counselling, sports, and organ donation drives, we foster healthier, informed, and active communities.
Livelihood
Promoting sustainable livelihoods through vocational training, career guidance, and income generation support, enabling individuals to build skills, gain employment, and achieve economic independence.
Governance
Strengthening grassroots governance through self-help groups, children's parliaments, and active participation in local bodies. Empowering communities to voice their rights and lead change.
Environment
Advancing environmental sustainability through tree plantation drives, organic farming initiatives, and awareness programs that inspire communities to protect and preserve nature.
Community Well Being
Enhancing community well-being by providing safe drinking water, shelter, and sanitation facilities. Through infrastructure development and disaster relief efforts, we ensure dignity, safety, and resilience for all.
